State Chapter Status We are excited to announce as of December 2007, the Texas Society of Genetic Counselors was approved by the NSGC as a State Chapter. By adopting TSGC as a state chapter, our national organization is recognizing that our mutual purposes and objective are complementary and consistent.
As a result, all new TSGC members joining after January 1, 2008, who are eligible to be Full, New Genetic Counselor, Emeritus or Student members of NSGC, must also be NSGC members in good standing.
First TSGC Annual Education Conference The Texas Society of Genetic Counselors (TSGC) proudly partners with the Texas Genetics Society (TGS) to offer an annual education conference tailored to address issues specific to genetics professionals in the State of Texas.

In 2008, The Ad-hoc Committee on Licensure has the opportunity to evaluate/revise current draft legislation using tools NSGC has provided and information gained from other organizations and states. Goals this year include meeting with and speaking to executives from other professions licensed under the Texas Medical Board for additional input, developing a strategy to increase awareness of the need for licensure of genetic counselors, visiting with legislators and further work on e-mail, fax and letter writing campaigns.
*If you are interested in working on the Spot Light on Texas or National News, please contact the Membership Committee. The Membership Committee and Professional Issue Committee are interested in volunteers to "watch" for relevant state and national news stories.
